Wonder - Sheepski Designs, watercolour pencil, 3D embossing

My project today is an inspiration for the September challenge on the Sheepski Designs challenge blog: For the Kidz.

I created a card using Bubble Dreams which I coloured with Prima Marketing watercolour pencils and backed with a panel embossed with a Crafter's Companion 3D embossing folder and embellished with Cosmic Shimmer Glitter Kiss and Nuvo Embellishment Mousse. Inside is stamped with a sentiment from Tim Holtz.

Putting It Together

Blowing bubbles is magical. These days I have a cat as my excuse to blow them, but it's really just for the child in me.

I coloured the image using Prima Marketing watercolour pencils and water brushes. I first printed it on heavy watercolour paper. Sadly, the replacement inks for my printer aren't as water friendly as the ink that came with the printer. I had to b careful not to drag the black print.

I only have 2 sets of the Prima pencils and don't have a blue, yet. So, for the sky background, I used Distress ink in an ombre wash.

I used a Spellbinders die to trim the image. I love these dies from Spellbinders because they bevel the edge while cutting the panel.

While I was looking through my stash trying to come up with how to incorporate the bubble blowing girl into a card, I happened upon a panel I had made a few weeks ago and loved how the two looked together.

When I was on a 'play date' at a friend's (a day of creative playing with art and craft supplies) I embossed a panel with a new Crafter's Companion 3D embossing folder I got. I spread Cosmic Shimmer Glitter Kiss, also new, on the panel but wasn't really happy with how it didn't 'stick' as evenly as other Cosmic Shimmer and that it took a lot longer to dry. When dry, though, I liked it more and highlighted the raised areas with Nuvo Embellishment Mousse.

For the card, I merely added the embossed panel on to a cardbase and the image panel on top of that.

Inside, I used a Tim Holtz stamp set for a sentiment and the row of hearts. I stamped them with Distress Oxide. "Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder."
