Birthday Eclipse - eclipse die cutting, Distress Oxide and Color Burst, embossing

Happy Birthday on an eclipse card with an embossed swirled background with Distress Oxides and Color Burst. My card featured stamps and die from Impression Obsession.

Putting It Together

As I write this, my fingers are darkly stained with purple and green. *laugh*

I started with a panel of Bristol that I embossed first with Wow Glitter embossing powder and then clear gloss. I did this to smooth down the glitter which is a little rough. Since I planned to use the blender tool, I didn't want to tear up the sponges. The embossing acts as a resist for the water mediums.

I first went over the embossed panel with Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers.

I have only one Color Burst that I got at a garage sale hosted by a local scrapbooking store. I wanted to see if it would work with Oxides. I very very lightly dusted the panel with Color Burst.

I then sprayed the panel with water and the Color Burst, well, burst. The intense pigment in the Color Burst is really amazing.

I used a dry cloth to blot some of the water and purple.

Tada! (not pictured is the Versamark used to emboss)

This was actually the second one I made tonight. The first.. well.. I learned how intense the Color Burst is and that you only need a very very light dusting *laugh*. The first panel is on the left. It's pretty, but not what I was aiming for. I didn't think I had much of the Color Burst on the panel until I added water and.. ye-gads!

Back to the one I did use. I die cut the panel and saved all the bits in a coffee filter. I adhered the die cut panel to the card base.

I also cut purple fun foam and fit it in the voids.

The little white spots with the card base showing through just won't do.

I carefully put the little bits into the voids, adhering them to the card base.

Much better with the voids all filled. I rather liked how the purple looked on the background.

But, I covered it up with the words cut from the panel.

It's pretty cool with the pattern matching up. Even though you don't really see it from the front, the purple foam does give the words dimension both actual and visual.

I added a flower to the card to finish it off.

Inside, I stamped a sentiment and masked off the centre area to stamp the background stamp on the edges with Versamark. I then brushed on Biscotti Perfect Pearls for a very subtle pattern around the outside edge.
