MerMay Hello - coloured pencil, die cutting

Sheepski Designs is sponsoring the latest Crafty Friends blog challenge. I'm joining the Crafty Friends design team as a guest with inspiration for the challenge of two or more dies.

My card features Selene, a Sheepski Designs freebie image. I coloured her with Prismacolor pencils and paired her with dies from Spellbinders, Kaisercraft, and Simon Says Stamp.

Putting It Together

This month is MerMay so I decided to make a card with a mermaid. You can get this image for free on the Sheepski Designs challenge blog freebie page: https://sheepski-designs-challenges.blogspot.com/p/freebies.html. If you enter the challenge on the Sheepski Designs blog or Crafty Friends, you can win some Sheepski Design images, too.

I printed the image on MiTientes and coloured it with Prismacolor pencils, keeping track of the pencils I used on a scrap strip of paper. I love her nose ridges. I almost added a loopy chain earring set.

I used a Spellbinders die to cut a frame from a textured paper and twice more from heavy cardstock to stack for a bit of dimension. I trimmed the image by framing it and drawing around the outside with a pencil to know where to trim.

I used a die set from Kaisercraft to cut two shells from vanilla cardstock and then used Distress ink with a blender tool to add colour.

I used a die from Simon Says Stamp for one more die cut also from Vanilla with Distress ink dabbed on. I dry fit them all on a background from a Kaisercraft nautical pad.

I adhered everything to a white card base. I curved the shells in the middle, only attaching their sides to the card, to give them added dimension.

Inside, I simply added some scrap from the background paper.
