The sly wink of this little magical owl made me think of a rainbow bursting from a cloud 'cause rainbows are one of the most beautiful bits of magic in the world.
The stamps in this card are from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. The cloud die is Craftin' Desert Divas. The rainbow is Distress Crayon and sprinkled over everything is the magic of Perfect Pearls. (Well, I think they're magical *grin*)
Supplies
These are not affiliate links just the products I use and where you can find them, too (if they're not retired).
Since I've been traveling with my watercolour pencils, I decided to take them along to my day job, too, and do a little colouring during lunch.
I coloured up the owl...
.. and her lovely hat. A relaxing way to spend lunch.
At home, I used Distress Crayon on 140lb watercolour paper, scribing each colour in a quick swoop.
I sprayed the crayon with Perfect Pearl water (Confetti White).
With a dry clean cloth, I smeared the crayon in a single swoop. To do a second swoop, turn the cloth to a new clean area so the colours remain in their respective places.
The result is a really pretty smear.
The shine on the rainbow from the Confetti White was nice, but I wanted a bit more. I added Turquoise Perfect Pearls and water to another mister and liberally sprayed the panel. One of the special properties of Distress Crayon is that it stays put when wet unless you explicitly 'move' it with a brush or wipe or whatever. Thus, I could spray the panel with the Perfect Pearls and not affect the rainbow.
The palette I used for the background with the addition of Confetti White Perfect Pearls.
I die cut some clouds from white gold metallic cardstock and fussy cut the owl. I dry fit them on the background to get a feel for what more I needed. I love the stitched swirls on those clouds!
I cut flag for a sentiment and dry fit it as well.
I ran the edge of the rainbow panel on a Mermaid Lagoon mini to give it a tiny line of colour.
I doubled up on the top cloud, adding a second layer of cardstock to it. I then adhered the two clouds together so I could use them as a single piece. I added foam mounting tape to give them dimension.
The double cardstock on the top cloud gives it just a nudge of dimension. The third cloud, below the owl, is adhered with tape runner for another dimension level. The owl and sentiment are both adhered with foam mounting tape. The whole panel is adhered with Scor-tape.
Inside, I added stars and another cheery sentiment.
