Supplies
These are not affiliate links just the products I use and where you can find them, too (if they're not retired). However, in future I may have affiliate links to offset the costs of running the blog (specifically the cost of using LinkDeli). This is my first post using LinkDeli directly, so I am still getting used to its quirks.
Putting It Together
I actually coloured the angel a few weeks ago, err a couple months ago, while I was at a gather sponsored by my Stampin' Up demonstrator. I used her pack of Stampin' Up watercolour pencils, since I am still on the fence about buying them.
I coloured up the image on light 90lb watercolour paper using the pencils and waterbrushes I brought with me. I wanted to see if I could do skin and hair with the limited palette.
I'll admit that I look at this colouring and can see things I would do differently, just a few months later.
I fussy cut the angel, following the outline on the digital stamp. It's handy it has a lovely margin or cookie cutter line. I added some Wink of Stella to her dress and halo for a subtle sparkle.
I got my first Nuvo embellishment mousse the other night and just had to try it. I also got a new stencil from Simon Says Stamp so what better than to try them together. I used a palette knife to smear the mousse on the panel with the stencil. It was late and I didn't have the camera on while I was 'playing' I love love love this stencil! The mousse is creamy. I'm not sure if I like it more or less than other similar products (Cosmic Shimmer and Inka Gold) but the colour is lovely and it is dreamy with stenciling. I let the stencil dry overnight. Mostly because it was my 'bedtime' and not because it needed that full time to dry.
I die cut "joyeux noel" from scrap foiled and white cardstock and stacked them to give the words a little more rigidity. I dry fit them with the angel and decided I wanted either a matting or frame.
I cut 1/4" strips of the same foil.
I added thin adhesive tape to the strips,...
Then added them to the edges of the panel.
I mitered the top and bottom strips by cutting it at an angle.
I added bits of foam mounting tape to the back of the angel.
Before adding the angel, I used adhesive tape to secure the panel to the card base.
I used the Xyron to add adhesive to the words.
I used the bone folder to rub the Xyron tape before peeling the words off and adhering them to the card.
I added small pearls as the dot on the 'j' and the accent for the 'e'.
Inside, I added a gold filigree I had die cut and had in my stash. It adds a nice detail without the need for a second sentiment.
