Wild Roses Friend - Sheepski Designs, watercolour pencil, mixed media

The challenge for July on the Sheepski Designs challenge blog is "For Someone Special".

For my inspiration project, I used Wild Roses. I coloured the roses with Nuvo watercolour pencils and paired it with a frame cut with two Movers and Shakers dies. I used an embossing folder, Nuvo Mousse, and Prima Art Alchemy waxes on the frame and embossed a Unity Stamp Co sentiment.

Putting It Together

My printer is taking a vacation so I was really happy I have several Sheepski Designs already printed waiting to be coloured. I carry pre-printed images with me along with watercolour pencils so I can do a bit of colouring when I am away from my craft room.

I coloured the Wild Roses while at lunch at my day job. I used Nuvo watercolour pencils and waterbrushes. I love the creaminess of the Nuvo watercolour pencils.

Back home, I fussy cut the Wild Roses with a narrow margin. While cutting, I realised I forgot the insides of the flowers. Since the pencils weren't handy, I used a Distress marker, Vintage Photo.

I recently got the Movers and Shakers Cabinet Cards and cut a frame from chipboard. I used that frame to do a dry fit with a sentiment from Unity. I love how they fit together, almost as if I planned it.

To make the frame more interesting, I used a retired embossing folder.

I used a blender tool to add Nuvo mousse to the frame.

To highlight the embossing, I used a finger tip dauber with Art Alchemy waxes.

The Movers and Shakers dies are handy because you can use them with or without a magnetic inner die. I used the die to cut the card base with the fold below the top cut.

I embossed the sentiment with rose gold on pearl paper to fit behind the frame. I added foam mounting tape to the frame to adhere the Wild Roses.

Inside, I cut a frame from watercolour patterned paper but otherwise left the inside blank.

I am so happy with how this turned out.

    1. I use paper coffee filters to contain mess like powders or when I don't want to get mousse all over my craft surface. I use gold filters for making coffee (or just drink the free Nespresso at my day job *grin*).
