Fall Bookmark - watercolour pencil on paper leather

Autumn is my second most favourite season (winter is my fav). It's a time of harvests and the scenery being painted with a brush of many colours as the leaves on the deciduous trees change lose their green. It's an amazing time of magic all around. The weather is also cooling down with a smell of chill in the air.

This bookmark on Sizzix paper leather features Kraftin' Kimmie stamps, Impression Obsession leaf stamp, embossing, and watercolour pencil.

Putting It Together

I have a bunch of images pre-stamped so I can do some colouring away from my workshop with watercolour pencil, such as while I am at my day job during lunch (it's a good break from the software testing I'm doing).

Many months ago, I had stamped this image on leather paper with intent of making a bookmark. I'm guessing it was last Autumn I did so. A year ago I made a bookmark with the same image! Leather paper has qualities of both paper and leather. It can be cut like paper, stamped, painted, etc. but resists being torn, like leather. This makes it rather rugged and a good material for a bookmark since they often take a bit of a beating.

Doing colouring at my day job, I'm working on my desk with the watercolour pencils and a waterbrush. I'm limited in colours because of the set I have. For the Caucasian skin, I use a reddish purple for the shadows and a light peach.

For the boots, I wanted to make Wellies, Wellington boots, which are commonly yellow. I really love how my boots turned out! The pants, jeans. Later I added in the straps the same as the pants making them overalls.

I used orangey-brown for the shirt.

Light brown hat with an orange band with purple spots :)

I finished the rest during device reboots but didn't get pictures of the rest of the individual areas. I decided to pencil in a background as well. Such a sweet little farmer.

I embossed the sentiment...

Then stamped over the embossed sentiment with leaves. I also used a punch to round the top edges.

To finish off the bookmark, I punched a hole and added a bit of ribbon striped with Fall colours that I got at a local scrapbooking store but can't find online for a link.
