Miles & Maisie - watercolour and die cuts

A cheeky birthday card featuring a long retired Kraftin' Kimmie stamp with Daniel Smith watercolouring, a sentiment from Impression Obsession, patterned paper from Graphic 45, and dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. "Another year has passed and I'm still Younger than you!"

Putting It Together

I started colouring this baby pair when I was out running errands with my sweetie. I let him go into a store alone (one that I didn't want to be tempted by) and stayed in the car to start watercolouring.

I used just one of the "sample" sheets of Daniel Smith watercolours with a waterbrush. I love the vibrant colours of these watercolours.

At home I finished colouring and added dotty details with a Uniball pen.

I used an Elizabeth Craft Designs die to trim the panel and add faux stitching.

I found the perfect background paper. While I was thinking about making them into a baby card of some sort, I pulled out all my patterned paper with a 'baby' theme to see what could fit.

I thought about fitting the project to a sketch challenge and started considering how I could make this one work.

I die cut this frame for a different project to use the centre. I wanted to use the loops from it, so I snipped one side.

I trimmed three loops and adhered them to the back of my plaid matted image panel. The three loops peek out and look complete.

For the sentiment on the side, I looked at my meagre collection of vertical sentiments, okay only one set (at this time). Not make vertical sets are even available. I keep looking for them. In the set, no congratulations. I could have done something with small die cuts, but the whimsy of having a babyish card as a birthday card made me giggle so I went with it.

I embossed the vertical sentiment and popped up the image with foam mounting tape. I used a kraft card bade because it fit with the colours.

Inside I used a cheeky birthday greeting and stars from a current Kraftin' Kimmie set. The age-related sentiment seemed appropriate for using a babyish theme.
