Snowboardin' - Sheepski Designs, Zig watercolour

These are a few of my favourite things... Snow!! Winter! Purple! This Snowboardin' snowman is my inspiration project for the August challenge on the Sheepski Designs challenge blog. I coloured the snowman with Zig Clean Colour markers and paired the image with wintery paper from Doodlebug.

Putting It Together

It's been hot here. Over the weekend we had record-breaking heat for our area. I have no AC at home except the bedroom (or I wouldn't be able to sleep) so the craftroom was rather on the warm side. I decided to make a winter card to try to cool down. Think of snow, it's just mind over matter.

Update: On the day of posting, the charm of the snowman worked. Our heat wave broke and the temps dropped several degrees! More than 10 Fahrenheit and more than 5 Celcius.

I used Zig Clean Colour markers and waterbrushes to colour up Snowboardin', a new addition to the Sheepski Design shop. I gave him a pop of orange as his scarf because, well, why not? *grin*

I added accents with Liquid Applique and Uniball white. For a fun dimensional embellishment, I used a heat tool on the Liquid Applique to make it puffy. I used an oval die to trim the image.

I backed the image with Doodlebug paper matted with a light purple. I will with so sad when I use the last of this Doodlebug paper. I hope this year's Polar Pals has something to assuage that grief :) I used a kraft cardbase because I have a bit too much of the heavy kraft cardstock in my stack and way too little of white. But, I like the look of the kraft just peeking around the edges. I think it's a nice accent colour to the predominant purple.

Inside, I used a sentiment from a Recollections (Micheals) stamp set trimmed with a stitched postage stamp die and die cut fishtail banners.
