Wine - Through the Craftroom Door, watercolour pencil

Cheers! A bottle of wine looking for some lonely cheese, my card features a digi from Sparkle n Sprinkle with Nuvo watercolour pencils on a Spellbinders embossed background.

This week Through the Craftroom Door has two sponsors. The second sponsor this week is Sparkle n Sprinkle and the prize is a $15 gift certificate!

Our products are not only hand-blended, hand-pressed, and hand-packaged in the United States, but our glitters, embossing powders, and flockings are also MANUFACTURED in The United States (not imported).

Putting It Together

One of my favourite mediums is watercolour pencil. It's versatile and easily compactable to carry along with me.

I used Nuvo watercolour pencils to colour the image. In the next Through the Craftroom Door magazine, I will have an article on the techniques I use with watercolour pencils. How I painted this image will be one of the samples.

I added some additional details with a Uniball Signo gel pen and found a die in my stash to fit the image.

I embossed a panel of Neenah Husk paper with a Spellbinders 3-D folder as a background. I also die cut "cheers" from mercury glass gold foiled cardstock and dry fit them all together.

I decided to accent the embossing by using a Clarity brush with Vintage Photo Distress ink. The Clarity brush can be used lightly to add a light colour to just the raised edges.

I then used a blending tool to add a bit of a darker edge on the corners.

I also used the blender to add a small bit of Rusty Hinge to the edge of the image panel.

I used a kraft cardbase and adhered the embossed background and image to it. I stacked the sentiment die on two layers of black to give it a slightly raised dimension.

Inside, I used a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp and a cheese stamp from Hero Arts. I've had that cheese in my stash for more than 2 years and this is the first time I've used it!! I've been looking for the perfect opportunity.
