Puddles

Rainy days are good for puddles. Puddles are good for stomping in. When you see it raining outside and the puddles getting stompable, doesn't it make you want to put on your rain suit and go stomp a few? The puddles I stomp in these days are the ones on the road as I go driving through the edge of them. Splash!

Supplies

Putting It Together

Puddles of Love is a long expired stamp that I got in a 'grab bag' from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. A cute little girl in her rain suit and wellies. The Saturday challenge this week is Yellow-ish and I immediately thought of this cute little girl.

I recently got some different varieties of water colour papers.  I decided to give the Strathmore Windpower paper a try with this project. It's a bit more expensive than the Strathmore 300 I often use. It's more smooth and more white. I stamped the image with a tan ink to do a "no lines" technique.

I painted with Distress Ink and water brush. The Windpower paper has a very nice feel. The paper has a shallow tooth, meaning it's more smooth than bumpy. It also has a nice lift, meaning colour can be dabbed off when wet.

I decided to fussy cut the image to layer her on a background.

I used a stencil to make the raindrop background. This is a 3" x 3" stencil so I have use it in sections with Post-It's to hold it in place and prevent over-brushing. I used a Clarity brush to add a soft colour.

I did a dry fit. The button is one I made with resin and Pearl Ex. The yellow matting is the bright days ahead.

I attached the yellow and rain panel to the card base. The button is attached a glue dot and the girl is popped up with foam mounting tape.

Inside I added a duckling and sentiment from You Are My Sunshine.
