Birthday Shake

I like shaker cards. I thought it would be fun to have a few circles on a card with independent shakers. I used "cool" colours which are also more "masculine" to make this a card more suitable for a man or boy (and who doesn't like shakers).

Challenges

Impression Obsession: Chill Out (Cool Colours)
Sieze the Birthday: Presents
Crafty Cardmakers: Embossing
AAA Cards: Circles
Southern Girls: Anything Goes

Putting It Together

This card uses dies, embossing folders, and stamps.

The first thing I did was run Core'dinations green cardstock through with an embossing folder. This cardstock is one of those with a lighter coloured core. To bring out that lighter colour, I sanded the embossing with a nail buffer (bought at a dollar store).

I trimmed the embossed panel to cover just part of the card face. I adhereed it to a complete 4.25 x 5.5" panel of Not Quite Navy.

I then ran the panel through the Big Shot with 3 circles and a present circle.

I was going to enter this card in a challenge with this layout, but the challenge was over before I got it done and written. Oh well, the layout is good anyway. I like it for this.

The fun foam is adhesive backed so I just needed to die cut circles to match those on the front and then glue the front panel to the foam with a piece of acetate between them.

I added shaker bits (confetti and chunky glitter) to the circles before removing the adhesive from the foam to attach the back panel. I also stamped Birthday to the bottom and added a glitter confetti "Party" to the top. The foam is rather squished from being run through the Big Shot but will 'plump up' later. The top circle's confetti are in the shape of presents to echo the present circle of the bottom.

Inside the card, I stamped first with the teal-sh High Dive then over stamped with the green Clover to make the sentiment somewhat between the two colours.

A day later after the foam has plumped up, the shaker bits move more freely. Some may stick to the edges where the adhesive edges are. If there are enough shaker bits, this can show as a border around the shaker chamber with still enough stuff to shake-a-shake-a-shake. What fun!
