Thankful - Perfect Pearls faux embossing and Scribble Stick colouring

A happy little dragon fly waving hello wishing you thanks in many languages. This card features a digital stamp by Createful Heart, Scribble Sticks by Dina Wakley, a background stamp by Stampin' Up, Bazzill paper, Perfect Pearls, and Nuvo drops.

These are not affiliate links just the products I use and where you can find them, too (if they're not retired).

Putting It Together

I got the Scribble Sticks recently, when they were on sale at Simon Says Stamp, I just couldn't pass up a 50% price. I decided to give them a try for this project.

Createful Heart is hosting their first challenge a Facebook mini challenge while working on getting their blog challenge going. I couldn't resist joining in with the adorable Dragonfly Hi that was offered as a freebie for the challenge. I printed the image on heavy water colour cardstock.

The Scribble Sticks are heavier than I expected but, since they're heavily pigmented, I should have expected the weight. I used them in two ways. I scribbled the stick on my plastic work surface and picked up the pigment with my waterbrush. This yields a very nice creamy water colour that's easy to mix colour to colour and control tint picking up more or less with the amount of water on the brush. It doesn't take much scribble to have a lot of pigment.

I also used the sticks directly both over areas I had coloured and along areas to pull from with the brush. The sticks have no 'scratchiness' but glide smoothly.

Even with the limited palette of this set, since the colours mix so easily, it's actually quite substantial. I am quite pleased with the set.

I decided to fussy cut the image with a narrow margin.

And the image was done.

I trimmed a pale blue textured panel and secured it in the Misti with removable adhesive. I prepped the panel with the powder tool before stamping with Perfect Medium. Perfect Medium is a sticky ink made for use with Perfect Pearls. However, Versamark will work nearly the same.

I used a brush to add Perfect Pears to the stamping. The powder sticks to the stamping with a lovely bit of shine. I used Turquoise for a tone on tone look.

I wafted the panel into a mist of water sprayed in the air to fix the Perfect Pearls.

I trimmed the panel and used the Distress Tool on the edges.

I dry fit the dragonfly on the panel and decided I wanted a thin matting.

I picked a turquoise out of my stash of value cardstock from Micheals and misted it with water mixed with Confetti White Perfect Pearls for a bit of sparkle.

I often use foam mounting tape to add dimension. I cut the tape into strips and add it to the back. I probably add more than I need to.

I decided I wanted to add a bit more dimension so I used the Nuvo drops I've been getting lately on various sales.

I actually used all 5 types I currently have.

I left the inside blank because I couldn't think of anything I wanted to put on the inside, but the blank inside is great for personalising.
