Summer Dive

Summer is a good time for discovery, both on land and under the sea. Join Jacquie Cousteau as she dives into summer and have a splish spalshy day!

The image from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps is coloured with Distress inks and water brush. The card also features a die cut from Sizzix and embossing.

Supplies

These are not affiliate links just the products I use and where you can find them, too (if they're not retired).

Putting It Together

Sometimes you decide on a particular colour for a project and then the project takes over and goes where it wants. I originally wanted a black wet suit with blue highlight.. Jacquie had different ideas.

I stamped  with light brown to do a "no lines" colouring. I used Memento since it dries water impervious and I use water medium.

With water brushes and Distress ink smushed on my work surface, I painted/coloured the image. She wanted Mermaid eyes and the blue wet suit.

None of my oval dies were the right size, like Goldilocks - too big and too little, so I traced the outside of the one that was too small for the cut line and the oval was just right. I fussy cut the oval.

It's a little neater to use a die to cut than scissors, but this is the right size for her.

I did, though, use the die to cut some fun foam to back the oval. The Artist's Loft light weight watercolour paper isn't as rigid as similar weight from Canson or Strathmore, so I decided to stabilise the 'pop-up' with the oval.

I die cut a seashell strip and trimmed a panel of seashell paper. I dry fit them together with a sentiment from another KKS set.

I used the blending tool to add Tumbled Glass to the edge of the oval.

I used the blender to add Ground Espresso to the back and sides of the shell strip.

I embossed the sentiment on a scrap and added foam mounting tape to both the sentiment and seashell strip.

I added an inside sentiment and two more shells from the strip's die.
