New Home

At the beginning of April, my mom picked up stakes and moved to Texas, to where my brother and his family live (i.e. to live near her granddaughters). She moved from a 4 bedroom house in Southern California to a 2 bedroom apartment in a senior living community. Definitely down-sizing. This is the card I made to celebrate her new home.

Supplies:
Happy New Home from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps: currently out of stock :(
Tree stamp set from Inkadinkado: http://goo.gl/HBWcVd
Chameleon pens: http://www.chameleonpens.com/
Heavy vellum: I bought mine at Scrapadoodle in Bellingham, WA. Jennifer McQuire's online souce: http://goo.gl/zYBIeA
Recollections 65lb white cardstock: Michaels
Natural Ivory cardstock: discontinued
DCWV Foiled cardstock: http://goo.gl/g6ZJxO
Tim Holtz Distress ink mini bundle #1, #2, #3: http://goo.gl/zSS2re
Tim Holtz mini ink blending tool: http://goo.gl/q3pDhM
Colorbox black pigment ink: https://goo.gl/4k5QTQ
Fiskars 12-inch Paper Trimmer: http://goo.gl/1C80jr
Tim Holtz Snips: http://goo.gl/nJYJeS
Tombow adhesive: http://goo.gl/XMLQG6

I stamped the image with Colorbox black pigment ink since it works best with the Chameleon pens and then coloured the image. I used Recollections white cardstock.

Then I stared at it trying to decide on the rest of the card. I wasn't happy with my out of lines colouring on the mushroom top but didn't relish doing a complete fussy cut. Then a group I'm in on Facebook offered a challenge, a card with trees. The mushroom started begging to be in a forest. But, not just a forest background, oh no, a vellum card started poking at me. And then I was too busy to work on it and then I was sick a couple days.

I forgot to take pictures mid progress. I keep forgetting to do that *laugh*

Basically.. I waved my hands around a lot, did several things incorrectly and had to backtrack and do them somewhat better..

The inside is stamped with the trees that show through the vellum and the sentiment in the same colour. Behind the mushroom is another mushroom cut out and sandwiching the vellum. The base and the back of the card is Stampin' Up cardstock given to me by a friend.

The foil around the bottom, framing the mushroom's paper, is a teal like the mushroom top, but doesn't show well in the picture..
