Princess Beautiful

A pretty princess on a rose background: Hello, you are beautiful. Let your heart sparkle!

Supplies

Putting It Together

Last weekend was my birthday. We went down to to Washington to visit a couple friends for lunches and to do a little shopping. While there, I went to Jo-anns, and they had scrapbooking supplies on clearance. Such and evil/wonderful word, clearance. I picked up several things which I had been oogling for a while but had picked up. With it on sale like that, I could afford to expand my stash.

For my birthday, my sweetie gave me a new camera! I'm still working out how to use it *laugh* Excuse the occasional blurry picture in this post. A few of the pictures were also with the old camera because my sweetie surprised me with the new one while I was creating.

One of the things I got was a sheet of Core'dinations Whitewash with a red backing. Oooo thought I, this would look really lovely with a rose or flower embossing folder and I have some already. At home, of course, I trimmed a panel and ran it through the Big Shot with the embossing folder.

Then I sanded it with my nail buffer (just the right grit and handy, especially when you pick them up at the dollar store).

Like the colour core paper, sanding on the Whitewash brings out the colour below the white surface treatment.

I used a corner punch to round off the corners and sanded the edge to bring out the colour along the edge.

And, ta-da, this gorgeous look. Yum. Now, what do to with it? I pondered and looked through my stamps and decided it should be the background for princess. (I have more colour balancing to do on the new camera..)

I decided to do a "no lines" technique and wanted to try out one of the new inks I got on the weekend. I stamped the image with VersaMagic chalk/dye ink in Wheat on water colour cardstock. I heat set the ink because it had a bit more shininess than I expected.

Using Distress Ink minis and waterbrushes (another of my fav tools). I didn't really intend to have a pretty in pink princess but.. that's what she wanted. I also used Perfect Pearls to colour her crown and accent her dress. I added Glossy Accents to her hearts just before going to bed so it could dry without me being tempted to touch it. *laugh*

I fussy cut the princess with a thin border of the bare cardstock. I also used Wink of Stella on her ribbons to give them sparkle. On her dress, I had brushed on a very watered gold Perfect Pearls to give it a soft sparkle with Confetti White brushed over her shoulders.

I dry fit the princess on the background and was mightily pleased. Now for sentiments and stuff.

I cut a slip of white card stock and trimmed the ends with an edge trimmer. I stamped it with VersaMark and embossed with Pearl clear WoW powder with the intent to sponge on colour as a resist.

I sponged on Worn Lipstick and Festive Berries to match her dress.

I dry fit again with the die I decided to use, another item I bought over the weekend but one of the few not on sale, but I did have a coupon *laugh*

I waffled on my descision for a colour for the die cut 'hello' and finally decided to try gold to match her crown. I was worried the gold would be over powering, but when I dry fit the elements together, the gold was perfect.

Before putting the front together, I decided to turn to the inside.

After figuring out a layout with stamps, I embossed the largest word with Emerald Creek embossing powder Sweet Valentine. The pink matches so perfectly and having 'sparkle' sparkle amuses me.

I then stamped the other part of the sentiment.

I sponged on some Worn Lipstick as a 'glow' and stamped a gold gem heart to finish the inside.

Since I decided to pop-up the image and front sentiment, I needed to pop-up the 'hello', too. I die cut fun foam in white to go behind the gold.

Since the 'hello' was going to cross the image and sentiment, I trimmed the foam to only be in the areas that it would be over the card directly.

I adhered the embossed panel directly to the A2, top folding card base I made from 85 lb Elizabeth Craft Designs soft finished card stock. I would have used a heavier card for the base, but I am completely out and waiting on an order. *sigh*

I used foam mounting tape for the image and 'you are beautiful'. I used Multi-Medium Matte for 'hello'. I also added small pearls as earrings for another bit of dimension.
