Party Animal - Sheepski Designs, coloured pencil, stencil + gel plate

December brings us another month and another blog challenge from Sheepski Designs. The theme for this month is Celebrations.

For my celebration, this highland cattle is here for a birthday. "Happy Birthday, you party animal!" My card features the Sheepski design, Curly, coloured with Prismacolor pencils and paired with stamps, stencil, and ink from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.

Putting It Together

I actually was intending to make a different project for the inspiration this month, but this highland cattle kept begging me to card him.

I used Prismacolor pencils on Mi Tientes paper to colour the image. I've come to really like doing hair which is a good thing because this image is almost nothing but hair. I'm rather pleased, too, with how the horns turned out.

Mi Teintes is very thin, so I decided to die cut a backing for the image panel while trimming it with a postage stamp edged die.

For the background, I decided to do a stencil printing technique with a gel plate. I used a stamp pad to cover the gel plate with ink.

I laid the stencil on the plate and used a very wet (sprayed with water) wet wipe to blot ink from the plate through the stencil.

I then laid the background panel on the ink. I first die cut a small panel for the sentiment.

The pattern picked up from the gel plate has a great visual texture.

I used foam mounting tape to add dimension behind the image and sentiment panels.

Inside, I stamped a second sentiment and some balloons.
