Dreamy dragonflies with a thank you for a friend, this card features Stampin' Up products: Dragonfly Dreams bundle, Layered Leaves detailed embossing folder, Avant Garden stamp set, Fresh Fig, and Pear Pizzazz.
Supplies
Once a month, on a Thursday night, I go to Stamp 'n' Chat, a small gather hosted by Liane, my Stampin' Up demonstrator. This month we spent some time 'playing' with new products that Liane had from the catalogue that released at the beginning of the month. Liane is also starting up a monthly challenge for her Facebook page, Stamp Chatter, using current In Colours and other current colours. The June challenge is Fresh Fig, Soft Sky, Sahara Sand, and Basic Black.
Liane has one of the new deep dimension embossing folders, Layered Leaves. I trimmed a panel of Natural White and embossed it with the folder. Seeing it in person has me sold. It's on my list for my next order. I debated lightly sponging or blending some colour on the panel but decided to leave it white.
Prior to Liane announcing her new challenge, I had die cut the dragonflies with Meadow Moss, a retired colour I have in my stash as a gift from another Stampin' Up demonstrator I know in the US. She sent me a stack of several retired colours when she was destashing. After the challenge was announced, I decided to save the dragonflies and combine them with Fresh Fig as soon as I could get it. I die cut the dragonflies from Fresh Fig and tried a layout with the green on top (my original concept with both colours).
I wasn't sold on green over the fig so tried it the other way and liked the look and feel.
After adhering the dragonflies to the embossed panel, I ran a Pear Pizzaz pad along the edge. Liane gave me a bunch of minis out of Paper Pumpkin kits because she prefers the full sized pads (I think she's trying to hook me on the ink *laugh* and it might be working.. I'm pondering adding some ink to my next order).
I matted the panel with Fresh Fig and like the hint of green behind the dragonflies but.. it wasn't quite.. done.
At a fundraiser stamp event sponsored by Liane and a couple other local demonstrators, I won a raffle package that included a retired bottle of Dazzling Details. I thought it might add just the right bit of glitterly sparkle to the dragonflies. I applied it and left it to dry (and went down to eat dinner).
I stamped and silver embossed a sentiment from the Dragonfly stamp set on scrap of the Fresh Fig. I attached it to the card with foam mounting tape and then trimmed the strip with scissors. I added the panel to a card base made from Natural White.
