Flamingo Float - stencil embossing on vellum and watercolour pencils

What can be better than floating on a flamingo eating an ice cream? This little cutie is a digital stamp from Craftin' Desert Divas which I coloured with watercolour pencil and waterbrush while flying from Vancouver, BC, to Missouri to visit family (and see the totality of the eclipse!).

Putting It Together

I'm on vacation but it wouldn't be a vacation if I couldn't do stuff I love, too. So, I brought some supplies along with me. I brought several pre-stamped or printed images on the flight along with watercolour pencils and waterbrushes.

I packed other stuff in my suitcase to finish up the projects in the hotel room, a few backgrounds I made before, a few die cuts, and a limited amount of patterned paper.

I printed the digi before I left and then coloured her on the plane while flying. I brought along the vellum stenciled background, a card base and the die cut ring I thought about using as well as the die cut rings I actually did use.

The background panel is a piece of vellum with Bo Bunny glitter paste which was applied through a Stampin' Up mask/stencil. I made it the evening I bought the glitter plate on a clearance sale when I wanted to see how it looked. I thought the twisty droplets along with the vibrant blue are perfect for the flamingo float. When the glitter paste dried on the panel, it slightly puckered and wrinkled it, which just lends to the watery look perfect for this card.

I decided to fussy cut the image instead of putting her on a circle.

She felt like she needed something more so I looked though the die cuts I brought and decided to use the rings. I dry fit them together.

I trimmed the edges and corners of the background panel and adhered it to the card base. The blue design hides the adhesive or at least makes it not noticeable. I attached the rings directly to the background and popped up the image with foam mounting tape for a bit of dimension. I left the inside of the card blank mostly because I didn't have something in my travel stash for the inside.
