Putting It Together

I recently ordered this wonderful Haunted House from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and fully intended to have it as a background for a scene, but it's wonderful as the focus at well. Come and wander through the house with me.

I stamped the Haunted House on watercolour cardstock because, well, I like watercolouring with Distress Ink.

I made the house mostly grey and weathered with purple and orange highlights and shining lights from the windows.

To make a background, I first masked the house. I stamped the image on thin paper and fussy cut it. I then used reprositional adhesive to keep the mask in place. I also made a strip to block the ground or sky as needed.

I used the stencil from a Tim Holtz Halloween stamp and stencil set to add bats behind the house.

To add in the bats, I pounced with Hickory Smoke and Black Soot through the stencil.

I then sponged on the Faded Jeans sky. I wanted to have a night sky, but not so dark it would take over.

I moved the strip mask to the lower part of the scene to add in a paved  area in front of the house.

I used the TCW Organic matter stencil and Pounced on Pumice Stone.

Leaving on the house mask, I took a peak at the stone pavement.

I moved the mask to block the sky and sponged on Peeled Paint and touches of Crushed Olive.

I added grass in flicks of the Crushed Olive.

I saved my house mask by attaching it to the cling foam for the stamp. This way I can easily find it later.

The painting finished.

I trimmed the painted panel to fit better on the card and tighten the composition.

I used Faded Jeans and Crushed Olive in the edges of the painted panel to finish it up. I added a sparkle of Wink of Stella to the windows and moon for a bit of shine.

Turning to the word, I stamped two sentiments on black and embossed with glow-in-the-dark embossing powder. I currently do not have a large plain oval die, so I used the largest of the lacy ovals and trimmed it with scissors. I ran the edge of the big oval on the Versamark pad and added Glow-In-the-Dark embossing in a thin line.

I decided to add a sheer orange ribbon to the card. I wrapped it around and..

...secured it on the inside of the card with an oval: Boo to you!

I adhered the main sentiment to the card: "Black cats prowl and pumpkins gleam, have a happy happy Halloween

I adhered the painted panel over the ribbon to the card base.

Inside the finished card.

Haunting is such fun.
