Using a retired Stampin' Up die, Bo Bunny glitter paste, and stamps, inks, and a stencil from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, I made a cake-shaped gift box for a birthday!
Putting It Together
I got this die last year on clearance and am finally getting around to using it.
I used the die with heavyweight (110 lbs) white cardstock to cut the top and bottom of the box.
I used a bone folder to make the folds from the crease lines crisp.
I assembled the box without adhesive, holding it together, to see how the back works.
I used the Harlequin stencil and inks from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps to decorate the sides and top of the box. To have a soft blend, I used the large Clarity brush to add the ink.
I first brushed on Raspberry Rose then added Real Red and Pumpkin Patch to add character.
I forgot to take a picture after I stamped the sides. I used Lovely Lagoon to stamp a birthday sentiment and candle from the Kick Assy Birthday set. I then masked off the side and back and matched up the stencil diamonds to cover where I had inked earlier. With a repeating pattern like the Harlequin diamonds, this is pretty easy.
I then added Bo Bunny glitter paste, Honeydew, to the top only, using a silicone brush from Prima. I love spreading pastes with the silicone brush. It's easier to control and clean than a plastic palette knife.
The stamping on the sides and the 2 colour top look very festive.
The die set also has a bow that I cut from scraps of the heavyweight white cardstock. To have the bow match the stamping, I lightly swiped the ink pad over both sides.
The bow folds in on itself and the separate ends adhere behind. I used double-sided tape to assemble the bow.
I also used ink pad swiping to colour the candle. I cut a double candle and glued them together to have a wider base so it would stand up easier.
I used liquid glue to assemble the box and a double-sided tape to add the bow and candle.
Both sides have the stamping.
