Adventure - Distress Ink stenciling, die cuts, and trinket stamping

Bon Voyage! Wishing you a wonderful trip with lots of adventure!

This card features retired Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps trinkets on an easel card with an Elizabeth Craft Design stencil providing Distress ink clouds.

These are not affiliate links just the products I use and where you can find them, too (if they're not retired).

Putting It Together

I got these trinkets in the last "Rubber Partay" for Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. Kimmie had done a Spring cleaning and was selling off the last of the retired rubber sets that she could find. I had intended to buy this set many months ago but thought it was gone forever when it disappeared off the sale site. Kimmie only had a few sets at the partay and I got one of them. *happy dance*

I stamped many of the trinkets on a panel of soft finished cardstock using Simon Says Stamp hybrid ink. I stamped with two colours on each of these. I would stamp with a lighter colour and then lightly ink up the stamp with the darker colour to have them blend.

The trinkets were designed to be used with punches, but I don't have the punches of the correct sizes. I do, however, have a nested circle die set. I found the two which were the closest fits to the trinket sizes.

After die cutting the trinkets, I determined which would look good together. I also cut a 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" panel of soft finished cardstock and used a stencil with Salty Ocean Distress ink and a blending tool to make a cloudy panel. I also ran the Salty Ocean mini along the edge of the panel to give it a fine blue line all around. I dry fit the clouds and trinkets with white and Dapper Denim cardstock.

The white matting and the Dapper Denim were both scraps out of my stash. Since the middle would be hidden by the clouds, it didn't matter that there wasn't a complete coverage behind it.

I adhered the layers of cardstock to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of 100lb card stock because I planned to make an easel card and needed a sturdy face.

Because I wanted to overlap the trinkets and wanted them to pop-up from the background, I applied foam mounting tape to only half of the small ones and entirely to the big one. I also added a touch of tape runner to the unfoamed part of the little trinkets to adhere them to the others.

I secured the trinkets to the card face and dry fit the easel. I created the easel base by scoring and folding one side at 2 1/8", the halfway point. The "adventure" was in my stash, cut for a project that I ended up not using it for.

I die cut the camera from the same set as the "adventure" and enhanced the embossing on it with a silver Gelly pen.

I used the Xyron to add adhesive to the "adventure" and used my bone folder to burnish down the edges.

I added stars from the Stampin' Up set, Urban Underground, as stoppers for the easel and added a single gem to the camera as the lens. I used Scor-tape on the front part of the easel base to hold the card face.

I lined up the edge of the face with the edge of the base and adhered them together.

Closed, the card conveys the travel theme. Propped up on the easel adds to it.
