Three Wishes - Through the Craftroom Door, coloured pencil, embossing, die cutting, shaped card, easel

Three wishes for a happy birthday, my inspiration card for the Through the Craftroom Door challenge features a digital stamp set from The Paper Shelter, our sponsor for this week.

The winner of the random draw will get 3 digital images from their vast collection.

Putting It Together

I love The Paper Shelter's images and backgrounds and so was happy when they were going to be a sponsor for Through the Craftroom Door. TPS gave our team the Three Wishes set for inspiration. But, I was fishing around in my head for what colour to do. I thought about Barbara Eden as Genie and Genie's evil sister, pink and blue respectively, but wasn't warming to the idea of either. Them the Outlawz Tuesday Colour challenge said yellow and it clicked!

I used Prismacolor pencils on Bristol, keeping track on a bit of scrap. I added Nuvo Aqua Shimmer in gold and glimmer to various places for a bit of shimmer. I used Nuvo Jewel Drops Limoncello for the coins on her outfit.

After fussy cutting her, I dry fit her against a steel rule die, Casablanca from Sizzix, to see if she would fit. I like using steel rule dies for easy shaped cards.

I decided I wanted to do a lattice, Moroccanish, background so used the Florentine thinlit on Neenah champagne pearl.

I used the matching stamp set to do gold embossing on Daffodil Delight. I used Simon Says Stamp Antique Gold for the embossing. I was a little disappointed the strip stamps didn't line up perfectly with the die cutting.

I dry fit the genie on the lattice and background.

I used the steel rule die to cut the background and did a dry fit with a sentiment die. I fit it on an A2 cardbase to see how the shape would fit with the fold. I used the steel rule die to cut the card base, putting the fold below the edge of the die to have a hinge.

I used the sentiment die to cut gold vellum. I later cut the sentiment from the champagne pearl to go behind the vellum.

To have a flat edge for the easel, I trimmed a bit of plastic from packaging.

I scored and folded the card base to be an easel card and adhered the background to the lower part of the front. I used foam mounting tape to pop-up the genie and sentiment.

Inside, I used the steel rule die to cut some of the background trim. I added a gold embossed sentiment from Elizabeth Craft Designs and two gold shimmery enamel shapes from Doodlebug for the easel stopper. You can also see where the easel fold on the front is.
