Presenting... My frame project uses a long retired stamp from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, a steel rule die from Sizzix by Eileen Hull, and an embossing folder from Spellbinders. The picture is me when I graduated from college (oh so long ago).
Putting It Together
I got the die a couple months ago on a sale. This is my first time using it in a project.
As part of a challenge last month by Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps to colour something every day, I used Nuvo watercolour pencils during lunch at my day job to colour the image.
I fussy cut her for this project and added touches of Uniball and Gelly Roll to her eyes and the medallion on her hat.
I die cut the frame from matboard and used a Spellbinders folder to emboss just the front. I used the Big Shot Plus for both because the standard plates are the same length as the XL plates for the normal Big Shot and the wider opening let me run the embossing folder to cover just the frame front.
I dry fit the image with the frame to see if I liked the embossing with her. I can visualize it somewhat in my head but it still helps to have the actual.
I used a stencilling brush and Krafty Colours ink to add a pinkish background. I used Purple Tape to mask off the back areas of the frame.
Using my finger, I added Vintage Gold wax to the frame to further highlight the embossing.
I was worried about the thin area of her can sticking out past the frame edge, so I decided to use a trimmed toothpick to add rigidity. I used foam mounting tape in a strip to adhere her to the frame.
The foam tape gives her a bit of dimension.
The frame is free standing. You just need to slip a picture in behind the opening and hold it in place with tape.
