Chanukah - Winter holiday card with embossing and die cuts

December 12 will start Chanukah in 2017. It's the festival of lights, a celebration commemorating a miracle of the temple lights remaining lit for 8 days on the oil for 1 night for the re-dedication of the temple.

This card uses stamps and a die from Impression Obsession with embossing.

Supplies

These are not affiliate links just the products I use and where you can find them, too (if they're not retired).

Putting It Together

I got the menorah die, hoping to add a few Chanukah cards to my collection. After I got the flourishes background stamp, the idea for this card started rumbling in my head.

I trimmed a panel of blue and used removable adhesive to anchor it in my Misti. I used the powder tool over the whole panel before stamping.

I stamped the background stamp with VersaMark and then added silver embossing powder. I then heat set the embossing powder with a heat tool.

I die cut the menorah from gold foiled cardstock and dry fit it on the background.

Using the blender tool, I added Distress ink Chipped Sapphire to the edges of the panel.

I dry fit the menorah on the panel and like the depth the edging gives.

For the inside, I decided to use the background stamp on the sides. To do so, I had to mask the areas I didn't want stamped.

I stamped the inside with light blue and then silver over the blue.

I trimmed foam mounting tape to fit on the back of the menorah to give it dimension on the card.

I die cut the flames from orange fun foam and anchored them on a scrap of cardstock with removable adhesive.

I squished the VersaMark pad over the foam flames and added red sparkly embossing powder. The scrap paper made it easy to heat set the embossing on the tiny pieces.

I put the menorah and flames in place on the card.

I stamped the sentiment in dark blue to match the feel of the card. The sentiment comes from an Autumn set but has been wonderfully versatile on many different cards.
