A lovely Halloween bride graces my inspiration card for this week's Through the Craftroom Door blog challenge. Our sponsor this week is Oddball Art. I used the Bridal Party digital stamp for my card.
Artist, Poet, Fruitarian............. Lizzy Love is a perfect combination of sweet and sour that glitters up the grunge! Easily lose yourself in her artistic realm of sometimes spooky but always delightfully cute, big eyed waifs and their animal friends. Lizzy’s whimsical, one of a kind dream world is easily recognizable by her signature style of creepy yet cute, all the way from the haunting darkness to the rainbowtastic, her original creations are lovingly sprinkled with a heartbreaking sweetness. Though she is completely enthralled by her Twinkling watercolors right now, Lizzy employs many different mediums when she creates, from drawing to painting, sewing and cutting, the end result always being the same; A gothic fantasy land painted in soft pastels and neon colors; filled with big eyed beauties, creepy little cuties and quirky monsters of all shapes and sizes. Lizzy Love’s artwork includes original paintings both acrylic and watercolor, giclee fine art prints, art dolls, digital and rubber stamps of her characters, hand painted merchandise such as bags, t-shirts and more..... limited only by her imagination the possibilities are endless. http://www.oddballartco.com/
Putting It Together
I love old movies almost as much as I love Halloween.
I coloured the bride only with Prismacolor pencils on steel blue Mi Tientes. I love the look of the pencils on a coloured paper. I decided not to use the rest of the bridal party, two monsters on the ground and two flying, so I didn't colour them.
I fussy cut the bride and tried her on a black doily.
I decided to change the accent colour to purple for more of a Halloween look.
I used Distress Oxide on a white doily, adding the colour with a Clarity brush.
I then liberally misted it with Perfect Pearls, pearl, mixed with water.
I tried her on the purple and black doilies.
I then added white gold Alchemy Art wax with a finger dauber to the lacy part of the black doily.
I dry fit the bride and doilies on a black card base adding a dotted vintage orange panel from Bo Bunny and a squashed flower from a card kit I got some time ago.
I adhered everything to the card base popping up the bride with foam mounting tape and added three purple gems from Kaisercraft.
Inside, I used a wedding sentiment from Impression Obsession on a panel of light beige spotted paper with a stipe of the orange for a detail at the bottom. I like adding a light coloured panel on the inside when I use a black card base to make it easier to add a personal, handwritten sentiment.
