I love a good pun as much as I love stencils. I combined them in a thank you card for a friend who likes tea. Tea-rex is my inspiration project for this week's Through the Craftroom Door blog challenge. Who's the sponsor? Newton's Nook! My project features the Argyl stencil set and the Tea-rex mini stamp set.
Newton's Nook Designs is made up of a husband and wife team located in Southern Wisconsin. Their goal is to provide you with unique and whimsical stamp designs and products that are fun to use and make you smile! Jen illustrates and designs all of the products and Jeff does the behind the scenes essentials! Their company is named after Newton, their sweet orange tabby cat, who is also the inspiration for their adorable cat-themed designs! Find out more about them and view their whole product line at https://www.newtonsnookdesigns.com
The prize for one lucky participant in the challenge is a $20 gift card for the Newton's Nook shop!
Putting It Together
I'm still working on my Craftroom Transformation so I needed to clear out a little space to make this card. Making this card, though, I did see that the arrangement in my new craftroom is going to work out wonderfully, once I get everything completely put away and arranged.
I used Press 'n' Seal to hold a panel of Simon Says Stamp cardstock and the stencil in place.
I used a Tonic blender brush to add Simon Says Stamp hybrid ink, Audrey Blue, to the diamonds of the first layer of the stencil set.
I then used a Prima silicone brush to add BoBunny glitter paste, Bubblegum, with the second stencil of the set after lining it up over the diamonds I had stencilled.
While the glitter paste was drying, I stamped the dinosaur on a small panel of the Simon Says Stamp cardstock and then coloured it with Spectrum Noir markers, a mix of the originals and Illustrators.
I used the sketch from the current Inky Paws challenge to inspire the layout for the card.
I dry fit the dinosaur panel, trimmed and corners rounded with a Fiskars punch, with the background panel and found a pink ribbon in my stash to go with them.
I used a Your Next Stamp die to cut a fishtailed banner from translucent opalescent paper and stamped the label with Simon Says stamp ink. I added everything to a top folding cardbase from Simon Says Stamp, using foam mounting tape to pop up the dinosaur panel. I used clear foam tape from Ranger to adhere the banner.
Inside, I used an My Favorite Things stamp set, Cup of Tea, to add a sentiment and flowers to tie in to the colours on the front, all stamped with Simon Says Stamp ink.
