Sunflower - Through the Craftroom Door, watercolour pencil

Autumn is a time of harvests and thanks.

Though the Craftroom Door's blog challenge is sponsored by Di's Digi Designs this week. I used the Scarecrow Bear to create an Autumn Thanks.

Medical photographer part time but my love was always drawing. I started cardmaking about 4yrs ago when I bought my daughter a cardmaking kit which we did together, but I’m afraid I got the bug! My daughter preferred scrapbooking. I then started looking online at other blogs and this then became my passion and I loved sharing my cards with likeminded people.
I love stamping and loved finding images, but sometimes I could not find what I wanted so I started to draw myself.
This then has become my second addiction and I have never looked back, I love thinking of new images, and it’s just fabulous to see others take them and make them into beautiful works of art. Long may it continue!

Putting It Together

This is my last project for my current Through the Craftroom Door term on the Design Team. I'm taking a month off from TTCRD but will return as a permanent Design Team member in December! I am thankful to Cara Malmrose, the owner of TTCRD, and to all the other members of the design team for the creativity they share.

I used Nuvo watercolour pencils while I was waiting for two different doctors appointments this week. I'm rather glad that I carry some pencils and images with me or I might have been a fidgety nervous wreck by the time I was seen for the second appointment. I was less worried about the first because I didn't think my issue is as serious as the specialist I was seeing does since it had been downplayed in the years I had been trying to get seen for it. The second was for blood test results from the first and I wasn't expecting any need for an appointment to discuss results. That one was less alarming, in the end, than the first. Hilarious. It's not an emergent issue but one I will have to get take care of sooner rather than later.

I decided to use an Outlawz sketch for the layout. The hard part was the lacey something under the circle 'cause I had made my image so large. My doily and doily-like dies were either too big or too small or just not right. I felt a bit like Goldilocks with the porridge.

I die cut the bear and dry fit him with the background paper I had been imaging him with and a couple ribbons. While looking through my stash looking for a cord to loop behind the circle, I saw the eyelash lace ribbon and thought might look cool in loops.

I added a die to my dry fit.  I was a bit worried that the ruffled blue checked ribbon would be overpowering, but when it was flattened to the background panel in tidy rows, it was a good accent. .

I die cut an orange foiled Thanks and two more from heavy white cardstock.

I stacked the die cut words using a glue pen. This makes a quick dimensional embellishment.

On the back of the circle, you can see how I am holding the loops of eyelash lace ribbon with washi tape. I also added foam mounting tape to the circle to pop it up from the background.

The blue check ruffled ribbon is also held in place with washi before the sunflower background was adhered to the card. A little more glue pen on the die cut word, at least the part that's on the circle, and it stays put. I added the flower with mini glue dots.

Inside, I kept it simple but still wanted to have the same colours. I used a die cut circle as a mask and a Clarity brush with orange and yellow hybrid ink. I started with the brush on the circle and swept outward.
