Building a friendship or any other relationship takes a bit of hard work. It helps when you're cut out to be together and can always build each other up.
This build themed card features a digital stamp by Polkadoodles and rubber stamps from Stampin' Up, water colour pencil, and Perfect Pearls "embossing".
Supplies
These are not affiliate links just the products I use and where you can find them, too (if they're not retired).
I was on vacation in the US visiting my in-laws and, since they lived in the perfect location for it, to watch the eclipse at totality. I brought along some printed and pre-stamped images with a pack of watercolour pencils and my waterbrushes. On the day of the eclipse, we were lounging in deck chairs on the edge of one of their fields, they have a farm, so we could have a great view of the event. We got out there before even the first nibble out so we had a bit of time to just lounge around and socialise. For me, that's a great time to keep my hands busy and do some colouring.
I coloured up Handyman Dave while waiting for the eclipse to reach totality. Back at the hotel, I added some metallic highlights to the tools and fussy cut the image but didn't have time to put him in a card there. Since I had limited supplies on vacation with me, if I had put him in a card there, it would have been different.
Back home, I decided to pair him with a wood grain background. I decided to use the board motif from Stampin' Up. I stamped a kraft panel with VersaMark and then brushed Cappuccino Perfect Pearls over the stamping. The Perfect Pearls sticks to the VersaMark permanently, but I still do mist set it by spraying a Mister into the air and wafting the panel through it.
The completed panel has a hint of shine in the grain which is actually quite stunning in person. The Cappuccino and kraft look great with each other on this panel.
To finish the panel, I used a Distress ink mini, Ground Esspresso, to run along the edges.
In my stash, I had an octagon die cut from soft finish card stock, likely the middle out of frame I cut for some other project several weeks ago. I stamped wth VersaMark and brushed on the Perfect Pearls to tie in to the background. I like the subtle shine. Perfect Pearls is like embossing when used this way, but without any dimension. I dry fit them on my wood panel.
I decided to have them popped up for dimension so I added foam mounting tape to the backs of both.
After adhering them to a card base I made from Stampin' Up Natural White, I added a screw top embellishment from Stampin' Up.
Inside, I used stamps from the Stampin' Up set "Nailed It" to carry the builder theme and give a bit of detail for fun. I like stamping something on the inside to make it as interesting to see as the front.
