Dance!

What could be more fun than a brightly coloured dancing lizard in a shaker full of sunshine? Great way to shake off the winter blues as we move on into Spring. Dance to your own music!

Putting It Together

I was thinking about doing a shaker card and remembered I had some dotted acetate in my stash. When I took it out of it's protective envelope, I discovered (or re-discovered) it was rather thick acetate. Ah-ha, said the creative voice in my head, let's do a clear card! And so, I began to build the idea.

To make the card base, I cut the dotted acetate in a 4 1/4" x 11" panel and then scored it at the 5 1/2" point to fold it into a top fold card. The gold dots are copper on the other side. Folded, you can see both which looks very festive.

I did a dry fit with the dies and stamps.

For the lizard, I decided to use Gelatos. On a bit of soft finish cardstock, I used a wet wipe to make a mottled panel.

I stamped on the happy dancing lizard with dark green ink.

After adding in a bit of shading, I used Lemon Twist Enamel Accents to add in the spots.

The coloured fun foam has adhesive on one side, so I added adhesive to the other.

I die cut two circles and joined them together for a stacked ring.

I dry fit again with the die cuts and a fussy cut lizard, just to make sure I was on the right track. I dry fit several times during my creating process.

I added google eyes and clear elastic cord to the lizard. Love love love the google eyes.

I stamped the front sentiment with VersaMark and embossed with Stampin' Up Curry and accented the bright green panel with yellow enamel dots. I added the beaded circle, die cut in black, to the top of the shaker top and topped it with Lemon Twist Enamel Accents.

I added a black panel to the inside of the card with adhesive only in the area the green would cover. Putting the black matting for the sentiment panel on the other side of the clear card, the dots float over the black with a bit of whimsy. I added in a bunch of Bumblebee sequins from Doodlebug and loosely suspended the lizard on his cord. This will prevent him from flipping upside down. The shaker is clear all the way through with the dots of the card showing up behind him.

On the inside of the card, I added a white panel to hide behind the black panel (with a bright green panel behind it on the back of the card to hide the adhesive). I stamped another sentiment inside in Green Apple. The photo shows a glare from the light in the room. The card is clear except on the coloured panels.
