Summer Fruit - gelatos, embossing resist, die cut

Yummy summer fruits make a delicious background for a Thank you card. My card features a long retired stamp set from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps coloured with Faber-Castel Gelatos and waterbrush with embossing for a resist and paired with an Impression Obsession die cut.

Putting It Together

Kraftin' Kimmie has been hosting a Facebook challenge of colouring every day with Kraftin' Kimmie stamps. I've mostly been trying to use stamps I haven't used before in my collection and a variety of different colouring materials/mediums. I got this set several months ago at a 'rubbah party'. Kim had done Spring cleaning and was selling off old retired sets she still had.

The set is unmounted grey rubber. I've discovered I can put removable adhesive on these stamps and then use them with my Misti with the same inserts as photopolymer.

To do the second placement, to make sure I didn't mar my panel with stray ink will putting the stamps in place, I used a bit of clear packaging. Lay the clear package on my panel, position the stamps on the plastic, close the Misti door to pick up the stamps, remove the plastic, ink up, and stamp. It works like a charm.

I embossed the stamping with white pearl which is insanely hard to see in a photo on the semi-white watercolour paper.

I daubed my gelatos on a piece of plastic packaging and picked up the pigment with a waterbrush to paint the fruit. The embossing of the fruit acts like tiny bezels for the water medium.

The gelatos I used let me make a soft pastel background. The white pearl embossing is a faint silvery outline. So yummy.

I used a corner punch on the panel and die cut "Thanks" from patterned paper and heavy white cardstock to do a dry fit on a kraft card base.

I stacked the die cuts to make it dimensional. I tend to like very simple and clean layouts without a lot of fuss.

Inside, I used a banner die with the same watercolour patterned paper and added a sentiment from another stamp set. I don't really like how this kraft paper looks with stamping most of the time, so having the fishtail banner gave me an easy detail with a cleaner stamping and a way to use some more of the scraps from the patterned paper.

  1. Love the way you coloured with your gelatos Rijacki! Simply scrumptious. Thanks for sharing it with us at Addicted to Stamps and More and I look forward to seeing more of your cards here. Hugs, Gwendolyn
