Roses

Pretty enough for a Princess on her birthday, a bouquet of pink shimmery roses.

This single layer CAS (clean and simple) card features Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, Perfect Pearls, an embossing resist technique, and shimmer for days.

Supplies

Putting It Together

When I started this card, I decided on a few things to combine some upcoming challenges: emboss resist, single layer, CAS, birthday, roses, Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp sets, pink, and something quick and easy so I could maybe get to bed a bit more on time *laugh*.

I decided to use the Buds and Blooms set for its simple elegant lines. For the birthday element, I decided to use the sentiment from a retired rubber set, Pretty as a Princess. I laid them out on an A2 card base I had made from heavy watercolour card stock. I used the Watercolour card stock because I intended to have a watery colouring.

I was going to emboss in a white pearl but decided, instead, to use two of the retired Stampin' Up embossing powders I got last weekend at the "garage" sale hosted by a local scrapbook shop. The light pink and sage embossing are lovely alone. If not for wanting to do resist, I would have left them as is. I'll remember this for a future card.

I decided to use Perfect Pearls to colouor the roses. The pink I have, Pink Gumball, is a bit darker than I wanted, so I mixed in some Confetti White and got the shade I wanted. Mixed with a lot of water, I had a loose shimmery light pink. I did the same with the Sour Apple green. (I also bought the pink and green Perfect Pearls at last weekend's garage sale. So glad I got them.) I then spritzed the card with a Mini Mister that has water mixed with gold Perfect Pearls and intentionally tried to get droplets around the roses. I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark and embossed it with gold to stand up to the roses.

Inside, I stamped another sentiment from the Pretty set and added a crown cut from a small sentiment set in my stash. I also added a rose and leaf in the bottom corner for a bit more pizzazz.

And that's all. Quick and easy, check, Embossing resist, check. Roses, check, Birthday, check, KKS, check. Single layer, check. CAS, check. Pretty, check. Get to bed "on time" (i.e. 11-ish), well almost... I would have if I hadn't thought I could start on something else *laugh*
